We currently have an outstanding career opportunity for a Technical Lead in our Fire Group. The Technical Lead of the Fire Group will champion the Fire Investigation Practice both across Canada and globally. Building, mentoring and leading a team and practice are essential components of this position. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of experience as a P. Eng. and have at least 5+ years of experience in fire investigation, consulting, and failure analysis. This is a collaborative position that interacts with engineers, technicians, managers, clients and administrative staff. This position conducts hands-on failure analysis, planning and implementation of laboratory tests, and field investigations.

Responsibilities: 

• Investigates the origin and cause of fires and failures, damage or defects of various types of machinery, equipment and appliances, building electrical systems; automobiles and heavy equipment components and operations; as well as a wide array of other engineering experiences (e.g. failure analysis, building code familiarity, and systems testing);
• Prepares accurate, clear, thorough, and concise reports outlining the origin and cause of the damages to clients;
• Leads a team of engineers and fire investigators across Canada;
• Functions as an effective member of the team, in addition to assisting, mentoring, and coaching team members and learning from colleagues and supervisors; supports the goals of the department, division, and organization;
• Establishes and maintains positive industry relationships with clients and prospective clients, competitors, and industry-related professionals (e.g., claims professionals, attorneys etc.) to gather business intelligence; share relevant findings and recommendations with internal constituents in the company’s interest.
• Establishes trusted working relationship with clients in regional area and interacts socially at mixed engagements with clients;
• Meets divisional marketing goals, revenue projections and client expectations;
• Stays abreast of office and company policies, procedures, and practices; participates in ongoing training and development as assigned or approved to assure knowledge and skills remain current and comprehensive.
• Promotes and provides assistance to the global investigation team.
