Job Description

SUMMARY OF JOB: The Accounting Manager role is key to the success of the Accounting organization as this role is responsible for the close and consolidation of the company’s global entities in accordance with US GAAP.  The role is/will be rewarded with diverse responsibilities at a growing and dynamic company. Responsibilities include balance sheet reconciliations, month-end close tasks to include journal entries, roll forwards and P&L analysis and day to day direction of staff accountants.   Through the use of reviews, analytics and metrics, this position will identify weaknesses in controls, opportunities, risks and process inefficiencies and act upon those findings. This position will be expected to gain a detailed understanding of all balance sheet accounts, P&L accounts and maintain a strong relationship with our internal, external customers, tax team and Audit partners.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Financial Reporting and Integration

  • Prepares the periodic consolidated financial reports including all US and international subsidiaries. 
  • Completes financial reports required by parent company.
  • Ensures month end close processes are timely and properly executed.
  • Maintains detailed accounting records including journal entries, account reconciliations, and other supporting close documentation. 
  • Publishes detailed monthly reporting checklist including evidence of review.
  • Effectively communicates progress and timelines to all stakeholders through verbal and written communication.  Resolves issues timely and appropriately. 
  • Issues timely financial statements and written analysis to key stakeholders including company president, divisional CFO, and corporate controller.   
  • Communicates significant financial information to management and finance team including large variances to budget, estimated reserves, and revenue recognition risks.
  • Integrates new subsidiaries including chart of account mapping, financial statement creation, and standardization of processes.
  • Provides for a system of management cost reports.

Financial Strategy and Execution

  • Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with other members of the organization across departments, divisions, and locations; functions as an effective member of the team, assisting co-workers as needed and learning from colleagues and supervisors; supports the goals of the department, division, and organization; participates in special assignments and activities as required or approved; demonstrates initiative in the interest of the client and the organization.
  • Leads financial projects from identification to resolution. Develops solutions to business and financial problems as needed.  Participates in cross functional teams.

Management

  • Provide training and guidance for Staff Accountants, including career development and coaching.
  • Monitor and review the work of Staff Accountants, ensure account reconciliations and reviews are occurring accurately and timely.
  • Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.
  • Develops and maintains appropriate relationships with the leadership team within the division and within other divisions.
  • Works with management to identify means of maximizing productivity across the organization through accounting system and procedural enhancements, and manage the implementation of those enhancements.
  • Works with management to identify and implement operational best practices.
  • Maintains current knowledge of developments in the field of accountancy, auditing and reporting, and alert management of opportunities and threats related to those developments.

Compliance

  • Collaborates with management and the IT department to leverage technology to improve productivity and enhance the experience of both internal and external customers.
  • Lead the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit.
  • Work closely with the tax team to provide supporting documentation to support local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings. Works with outside accountants to ensure timely and accurately income tax filings.
  • Stays abreast of office and company policies, procedures, and practices; participates in ongoing training and development as assigned or approved to assure knowledge and skills remain current and comprehensive.

Job Requirements

Experience in multi-currency, purchase accounting, international environment including intercompany consolidations and eliminations.  Strong general ledger, audit, income tax and internal control knowledge. Baccalaureate degree and CPA, required with; 7 years directly relevant industry experience, including experience at the managerial level; Strong background with systems and documentation of controls; excellent written and oral business communication skills; strong organizational and time management skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications; experience in Microsoft Dynamics GP; advanced mathematical and accounting skills and basic statistical skills; skills in analysis, interpretation, synthesis and reporting of highly technical financial data; gross and fine motor skills; trustworthiness, integrity, and personal accountability; problem-solving; sound judgment and objectivity; care, compassion, adherence to standards of ethical behavior and professional conduct, and respect for co-workers and clients; commitment to professional and personal growth and development; commitment to continuous improvement; team-oriented work style.
