We currently have an outstanding career opportunity for a Technical Assistant.


  • Evidence management – logging in evidence, getting evidence out of storage for joint exams, etc. This could include going to sites to pick up evidence or coordinate delivery from/at site if large trucks are required for evidence movement
  • Assisting experts in their evidence disassembly and/or joint exams where required
  • Photographing evidence if required to assist experts (may require some training in photography if they are not already familiar)
  • Maintaining the lab area – supplies, equipment, cleanliness, organization, etc. (note that we should highlight the fact that we will be building out a clean lab space (the old kitchen) with microscopes, etc. which they would also be responsible for
  • Site assistance, which could involve documenting damage to a building, equipment, etc., either through measurements and sketches and/or photography
  • Building permit related – typically involves going to building departments and submitting permit applications that have been prepared by other Envista consultants
  • Office research – could be relating to codes and standards relating to a particular loss, research into certain types of equipment or materials relating to a loss, assisting with costing of equipment on an equipment loss matter
  • Keeping equipment calibration up to date (this would include field equipment like electrical testing meters, meggers, etc.)
  • Stays abreast of company policies, procedures, and practices; participates in ongoing training and development as assigned or approved to assure knowledge and skills remain current and comprehensive.
  • Functions as an effective member of the team, assisting co-workers as needed and learning from colleagues and supervisors; supports the goals of the department, division, and organization; participates in special assignments and activities as required or approved; demonstrates initiative in the interest of the client and the organization.
  • Adheres to all applicable federal, state, and local laws as well as applicable regulations and standards.
  • Establishes trusted working relationship with clients and interacts socially at mixed engagements with regional clients.


Job Requirements

  • Baccalaureate degree in Forensic Science, Engineering or related field.
  • Engineering aptitude or ‘hands-on’ type person
  • Skills in analyzing, interpreting, synthesizing, prioritizing, and reporting pertinent information, discerning the essential from the non-essential, and grasping complexities of unusual or complicated cases; research and investigative abilities
  • Vehicle and driver’s license required
  • Willingness to learn new skills which could include becoming certified as an Infra Red (IR) specialist or certified as an X-Ray specialist
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 Ibs.
